The Brown Hotel Presents "Illuminations" Exhibit by Teresa Waller
Wine and Cheese Reception - Friday, November 20, 2009 - 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m.
The Gallery at The Brown hotel is hosting a wine and cheese reception to celebrate the new exhibition showcasing Madison, IN artist Teresa Waller. "Illuminations" is Waller's third solo show in two years and was inspired by the common motif of dramatic lighting that surrounds her many pieces. Waller says of her work that it is the light, shadow, form and color when the lighting is "just right" that causes her greatest reaction, and it is that moment that she wishes to capture and portray to the audience. Her subject matter varies from a woman in a vintage cocktail dress to a large-scale tobacco leaf, yet all of the pieces in this collection are joined by the dramatic and compelling uses of light and shadow.
The Gallery at The Brown Hotel features local artists quarterly to bring awareness to Louisville's visual arts scene. It is located on the first floor of the hotel, and is open Monday through Friday from 9:30 a.m. to 9:00 pm, and 10:00 am to 6:00 pm Saturday and Sunday.

Thursday, January 15, 2009: Executive Chef Laurent Géroli Welcomes Chef and Cookbook Author Rick Tramonto of TRU!
The Chicago Sun-Times called Rick Tramonto a “blend of mad scientist and magician in the kitchen” in a review of his popular restaurant TRU. Tramonto and his executive chef Tim Graham are helping celebrate TRU’s 10th anniversary by bringing a bit of TRU to select events and special dinners across the country starting in Louisville. On Thursday, January 15, Tramonto and Graham will join The Brown Hotel executive chef Laurent Géroli for a one-night-only dining event in The English Grill.
This special dinner begins with a reception at 6:30 p.m. with canapés such as Potato Cube served with crème fraîche caviar and micro beets, and Roasted Squab with cassis reduction on toasted foie gras brioche paired with Gruet Brut, New Mexico NV. Dinner follows at 7 p.m.
The cost is $115 per person, and tax and 20% gratuity are additional. Tramonto will also be on hand to sign copies of his cookbook “TRU,” which will be available for purchase for $35. David DuBou, wine specialist for Vintner Select will be available to comment on the wine pairing. Reservations are required for this event and can be made by calling English Grill manager Neal Ward at 502-736-2998.
